Outpatient Treatment

Adult Supportive Outpatient Treatment is individual and group therapy for individuals struggling with substance abuse issues and their families. One of our goals at HCCADA is to keep the families together while their loved ones are successfully going through treatment. That is what Supportive Outpatient Treatment provides: the opportunity to heal not only the individual affected by addictions, but also their families by allowing the individual to still work and meet other family obligations and participate in treatment simultaneously.

To determine the most effective counseling or treatment, you will receive a thorough clinical assessment at your first visit. Fortunately, this assessment is covered by most insurance plans. You can come alone or have your family accompany you. Based on that assessment, we will recommend the best course of treatment, which may include individual, family, or group counseling by our therapists. We also accept Medicaid and numerous other insurance plans, and funding may be available for those who qualify. You may have little to no cost for services provided.

1. HCCADA’s adult outpatient program lasts 12 weeks and is for people working on recovery from alcohol or drug use. Our program is personalized to each person. We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps people see how their thoughts affect their actions, and Motivational Interviewing (MI), which is a supportive counseling style that helps people find their own reasons to make positive changes. Counselors and peer coaches use these methods to encourage lasting recovery. We also follow the 10 Guiding Principles of Recovery:

  • Many Pathways
  • Hope
  • Peer Support
  • Culture
  • Strengths
  • Person-Centered Care
  • Holistic Approach
  • Building Healthy Relationships
  • Addressing Trauma
  • Respect

These principles were created by SAMHSA, a federal agency that supports mental health and substance use recovery programs across the country.

2. Individuals needing treatment can receive counseling and support without having to take time off from work, leave their families, or enter a residential treatment center. Treatment sessions are available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and can be done in person or virtually for your convenience. Family members are an important part of the recovery process. They learn what addiction is and how they can be a strong support system for their loved one(s). Because addiction affects the whole family, and truly impacts our entire community and world, we believe recovery must include education and support for everyone involved.

In addition to counseling, HCCADA will connect you with our Recovery Coaches—at no cost to you. Recovery coaching is an important part of treatment because it gives you ongoing support beyond the counseling room. Coaches can help you find safe recovery housing, connect with AA or other support groups, explore job opportunities, and join fun recovery activities in your community. This added support helps strengthen the treatment process and builds a stronger foundation for lasting recovery.

Outpatient treatment offers weekly counseling sessions that include about five hours of support: two group sessions and one individual session. In these sessions, you’ll take part in discussions, activities, and learning opportunities that use proven, evidence-based practices.

The focus of treatment is on building skills that support self-care, healing, and ongoing recovery at a pace that works for you. Together with your therapist, you will create a personalized recovery and transition plan before completing services, so you feel prepared and supported for the next steps in your journey.

The outpatient treatment group meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm., with some adjustments for holidays. Most often, you’ll be in outpatient for 12 weeks, but this can vary in length depending on your individual needs.

Because addiction impacts not only the individual but also family members, friends, and co-workers, HCCADA’s Outpatient Treatment program takes a whole-person and whole-family approach. We work with you to understand your unique situation and invite your family members to be part of the healing process. By building a network of care, support, and understanding, our program helps strengthen recovery for you and for those closest to you.
